Dr. Ryan Bradley Sondergard, D.O., is a highly respected psychiatrist in St. Louis, known for his unwavering commitment to patient care and a deep passion for psychiatry.
Since July 2019, Dr. Sondergard has been a Psychiatric Hospitalist at Mercy Hospital South, making a significant impact. He manages the adult inpatient service, covering a 72-bed unit alongside his Dr Ryan Sondergard colleagues. Dr. Sondergard also co-runs the electroconvulsive therapy service, performing critical treatments for 9-11 cases three times a week. His role extends to assisting with consult and liaison services, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
Dr. Sondergard’s journey in psychiatry began with his residency in Adult Psychiatry at Saint Louis University from July 2015 to June 2019. He holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University-KCOM, completed between August 2011 and May 2015. His undergraduate education in Biology at the University of Missouri-Columbia from August 2007 to May 2011 provided a solid scientific foundation.
Dedicated to professional growth, Dr. Sondergard is Board Certified in Psychiatry since September 2019. He maintains a Permanent Medical License in the State of Missouri (from January 2017), a DEA License Dr Ryan Sondergard (since 2017), and has Electroconvulsive Therapy Certificate of Training (June 2019). His commitment to comprehensive care is further exemplified through a MAT Waiver (buprenorphine waiver) obtained in November 2019 and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification achieved in May 2018.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Sondergard actively engages with the community. His involvement includes contributing to the Christian Hospital Readmissions Project in 2013-2014, ensuring a smoother transition from patient discharge to outpatient follow-up. He also served as a Student Representative for the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) during the 2013 accreditation inspection.
